Near the end of the quarter, he scored his 62nd point of the game with a fast-break dunk, officially surpassing the Heat franchise single-game scoring record (61 points) previously set by LeBron James. Meanwhile, his 62 points also tied the three-quarter scoring record in the play-by-play era held by Kobe.
After three quarters, the Heat led the Wizards 113 to 97. Adebayo continued to play in the fourth quarter, constantly increasing his personal score. With 9 minutes and 5 seconds left in the final quarter, he completed an and-one play under the basket, officially scoring his 70th point of the game via the free throw, becoming the 11th player in history and the 6th active player to join the 70-point club! Following that, he consecutively drew fouls and reached 74 points through free throws, surpassing Luka Doncic to become the active player with the most points in a single game.
In the final moments, the entire Heat team resorted to intentional fouling tactics to stop the clock and help Adebayo get more scoring opportunities. Ultimately, after stepping up to the free-throw line time and time again, he reached 83 points, surpassing Kobe to become the player with the second-highest single-game points in NBA history, behind only Wilt Chamberlain's 100 points!
